Deborah Jean Smith, 66, of Virginia, IL died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 24, 1958, the daughter of Allen and Carol (Kruse) Bast. Her mother, Carol Orwig survives in Virginia.
She is also survived by two daughters, Jody (Brad) Bowman of Virginia and Jamie (Duane) McHatton of Rushville; five grandchildren, Bryce Bowman, Savannah Bowman, Joclyn Smith, Larissa Smith, and Daulton Stinson; one great granddaughter, Hazel Ingles; and three sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her father.
Debbie loved to cook and had worked at many area restaurants, as well as Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. She enjoyed sitting outside her home and feeding the squirrels and birds, and she loved her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date. Memorials are being handled by Havana National Bank in Virginia, made out to Jody Bowman to help with "Donations for Debbie" and her expenses. The Buchanan &
